The devastating fire early this morning on South Deerfield Ave. in Lansing (MI) spared the lives of our neighbors, but it took their house with all their personal belongings.
According to neighbors who talked to the family who lost the house, the fire started when a running laptop was left on a couch overnight.
The Lansing Fire Department responded with five trucks, an ambulance, along with a couple of Lansing Police Department cars to block traffic.
A neighborhood-wide collection will be taken for the family to use to recover from the loss of their home and their possessions.

I want to say a big THANKS to everyone …..Wow awsome job the way your Averills- Woods -Lewton Rich neighborhoods came togeather and helped your neighbor that lost everything. Great idea with the bucket!!
