At her monthly “Second Saturday” meeting at 10 a.m. this Saturday, June 14, Lansing (MI) City Council member A’Lynne Robinson will meet with her Third Ward Constituents and others to discuss a proposed city ordinance to regulate cellphone tower construction.

The cell-tower-committee-draft is a product of a controversy over T-Mobile’s plans to construct a 125 foot cell tower in a residential neighborhood in her south Lansing ward. Late last year, the City CouLansing residents discuss Averill Woods cellphone towerncil refused to approve a special use rezoning request for the construction of the tower at the end of South Deerfield and Glasgow streets.

The goal of the ordinance which is in the Council’s Intergovernmental Relations Committee chaired by Robinson is to establish a developmental template for cell tower construction that encourages forward advances of technology in the city while preserving its unique residential qualities.

The meeting will be held at Lansing Fire Station 46 at 5135 Pleasant Grove Rd.
