In response to two shootings in the past month in the Averill Woods neighborhood on Lansing’s southwest side, a real-time Twitter group has been started for residents and appropriate city officials.
It’s an effective way for neighbors to get and give information relating to police and safety issues.
After signing up for a free Twitter account and after choosing to follow the Averillwoods group, then residents can get and send information from either their computer or their smartphone. As this neighborhood-driven project gets started, there will be neighborhood-driven tutorials answering questions.
Here are the first two steps: 1) go to www.twitter.com and sign-up for a free account. 2) Then go to www.twitter.com/averillwoods and look beneath the picture on the top left of an LPD officer and click Follow.
Come back to this site soon for more specific instructions.
